The Motorola PMLN5101A IMPRES Temple Transducer Headset uses bone-conduction technology to deliver radio audio through sound vibrations transmitted from the wearer’s temples to the inner ear. Because the receivers rest against the temples instead of covering or entering the ears, users can communicate while remaining aware of nearby speech, alarms, machinery, traffic, and other surrounding sounds.

Its lightweight, behind-the-head design provides a comfortable and secure fit for extended professional use. A noise-canceling boom microphone improves transmitted voice clarity in noisy environments, while the integrated in-line push-to-talk button provides convenient radio activation.

Motorola IMPRES technology optimizes audio performance when the headset is connected to a compatible IMPRES radio. The open-ear design also allows separately selected earplugs or other hearing protection to be worn when required.

The PMLN5101A carries an FM intrinsic-safety designation for use with appropriately approved Motorola radios. Intrinsic-safety approval applies to the complete radio and accessory combination and must be confirmed before hazardous-location use.

How the Temple Transducer Works

The receiver components convert incoming two-way radio audio into sound vibrations. These vibrations travel through the tissue and bone surrounding the temples to the wearer’s inner ear.

Unlike conventional over-the-ear or in-ear headsets, the PMLN5101A leaves the ears uncovered so the user can continue hearing important environmental sounds.
