Important Frequency Clarification

Although some older catalogs describe the HAF4013A as a “7/8/900 MHz” antenna, Motorola’s current specification identifies its supported frequency range as 762–870 MHz.

This antenna should not be selected for a radio operating above 870 MHz without confirming compatibility.

Low-Profile Design

The compact stubby housing reduces antenna height compared with a traditional whip. This makes the HAF4013A well suited for vehicles that regularly enter:

  • Parking garages

  • Maintenance buildings

  • Loading areas

  • Equipment bays

  • Other low-clearance environments

Wide-Area Signal Performance

The 3 dB gain design concentrates more energy toward the horizon than a quarter-wave antenna. This can improve coverage across relatively flat terrain where communications must reach a larger horizontal area.

Actual radio range depends on transmitter power, system infrastructure, terrain, antenna location and surrounding structures.

Compatible Radio Families

Motorola identifies the HAF4013A for compatible 700/800 MHz mobile radios, including select:

  • APX 1500

  • APX 4500

  • APX 6500

  • APX 7500

  • APX 8500

  • XTL 1500

  • XTL 2500

  • XTL 5000

  • Additional Motorola mobile radios operating within 762–870 MHz

Compatibility depends on the radio’s frequency band and Mini-UHF antenna connection. Please verify both before ordering.

Permanent Through-Hole Installation

Installation requires drilling an appropriate hole through a suitable vehicle roof or conductive metal surface. Professional installation is recommended to ensure:

  • Proper grounding

  • Weather-resistant sealing

  • Safe cable routing

  • Correct antenna placement

  • Compliance with RF-exposure requirements

Important Product Distinction

The HAF4013A is a non-GPS RF antenna. It does not provide GPS or GNSS reception. A separate GPS antenna or compatible combination antenna is required when location services are needed.
